The global redistribution of moths and butterflies
The underlying research assembled a global dataset describing the distribution and timing of first records of established non-native Lepidoptera by integrating information from multiple databases and scientific literature. The study considered human-mediated establishments across 258 non-overlapping geopolitical regions and used these data to examine global invasion richness, exchange flows and temporal dynamics.
This interactive product visualises the supplied shortened species-region dataset. Each region can be explored to identify the species recorded there and, where available, the associated year of first record. Blank first-record values in the source data are displayed as Not reported.
